The Storage Awards 2013,

Grand Connaught Rooms
Last Years Storage Awards (the Storries IX) took place at The Grand Connaught Rooms, Covent Garden and was for many our best awards yet. With 400 of the industry’s finest in attendance at the home of the Storries, once again the readers of Storage Magazine rewarded outstanding products, services and people.

The 2012 Awards saw in excess of 8,500 readers (a new record!) voting (41,000+ votes cast in total - another record) for their favourite products, people and companies.

Among the biggest winners were Emulex winning Marketing Team of the Year and Connectivity Product of the Year. Tarmin won both the Archiving and Compliance Product of the Year and Storage Monitoring Product of the Year. CommVault were another who doubled up on the evening with wins in the Channel Excellence category for Martin Gibbons and Simpana 9 winning the DR and Backup Product of the Year, while James Ward of Hammer plc and David Cue of Q Associates (winners of the Corporate Storage Reseller of the year) were rewarded for their contribution to the industry.

The Editor’s Choice (presented jointly by outgoing Editor Brian Wall and new Editor Dave Tyler) went to VEEAM for VEEAM One, Storage Product of the Year went to IBM for Storwise and Oracle were crowned Storage Company of the Year, narrowly beating off competition from IBM and NetApp.

The evening kicked off with the traditional Champagne reception in the grandest of arenas; dinner followed and the audience were entertained by Chris Barrie (Red Dwarf, Tomb Raider, Brittas Empire and Spitting Image) who went straight into his Brittas routine. Chris presented each award and was kind enough to stick around and have photos taken with revellers afterwards.
As soon as the awards were finished, the evening turned into the single largest networking event seen by the storage industry, with old friends mingling and new friendships formed.
